What are Metaphors
A metaphor is a poetic device that describes an object or an action in a way that is not exactly true but gives an idea or makes a comparison.
It may appear a little strange as their literal interpretation is entirely different from the actual meaning.
You must have read Shakespeare’s famous poem all the worlds a stage. He opens the poem with a metaphorical expression.
All the world’s a stage
And All the men and women merely player’s
Her eyes were fireflies:
This means her eyes shone and sparkled.
The kids were monkeys on the jungle gym:
Means they were jumping and swinging like monkeys.
