Example: Had she been cooking food for two hours.

Use of “For” and “Since”
To indicate time reference, For and Since are used as they describe when the action started and how long it continued in the past.

Definition
The Past Perfect Continuous Tense shows that an action that started in the past continued up until another time in the past.

He had been working in this office since January.
I had been playing my favourite game.
